Jaxon’s Appointment

Wednesday Jaxon had his appointment with a development specialist. It went as I expected. Jaxon is delayed, and they want his hearing tested because he wouldn’t look at them when they called his name…he was too into the toys.

So, course of action? I have a call into Infant and Toddler Connection for early intervention, I specifically requested the same case manager that worked with Jeffery when he was a toddler and first started speech. Been playing phone tag with her today…might get to do his intake this upcoming week because in her message she said she’ll be in town on Wednesday.

We’re not too worried about him not walking yet, he’ll eventually get it. They think he has a slight sensory “problem” with him liking to bang his head on his highchair. But, they said as long as he’s not hurting himself to ignore it…which is what I already do. They said he might just like the way it feels. They aren’t jumping to any diagnosis of Autism or anything like that, they are going to see how he progresses with the therapy and see how his hearing is and then go from there.

I take him back in 6 months for a check-up. By then he should be in speech therapy (and whatever other therapy he may need), and there should be some progress. We will also be in a bigger house by then which means he has plenty of room to learn to walk!

Oh, and the doctor said he’s growing perfectly! He’s 21lbs and I forgot his height, but they said he’s in the 20-30 percentile for height and weight and his head is in the 70 percentile (my baby has a big head…always has lol) Jaxon was smiling for the doctor, and just being his usual goofy self.
