I took Jeffery back to school shopping on Friday. This is the first year we’ve had to buy more than just a backpack, nap mat and clothes. We got to buy actual supplies, 2 boxes of crayons, 2 boxes of markers, pair of scissors, pencils, folders, tissues and all that fun stuff. The one name that popped into my head when I got the list, was a name that I had recently gotten products to review and had also used when I was a kid, Crayola.
Why would I be reviewing simple crayons, colored pencils and markers from Crayola? Because they have started a few new things, and making it aware of some awesome things they have been doing for years that you may not
know about! Let’s see, did you know that for every tree that Crayola cuts down to make their colored pencils, another tree is planted? Yep,they use reforested wood, and they have been since 1987. Crayola is looking after the planet and I think that is awesome! They also don’t use rain forest woods or endangered species. Crayola’s crayons are made with solar power!!!! How awesome is that? In Spring of this year, solar panels provide enough energy to make a billion crayons each year! If you are buying Crayola markers this year (like I did!), you may notice the plastic isn’t white anymore, they have changed to black, it allows then to use more recycled plastic!!! Crayola making that change is keeping hundreds of tons of plastic out of landfills each year!
I can say that when I picked up 2 boxes of crayons and 2 boxes of markers for Jeffery’s school shopping, I choose Crayola and in the process I feel like I helped the environment at least a little! I also have a box of Crayola crayons, markers and colored pencils to keep here at the house for when Jeffery has homework this year.

Our family rule is to leave all outdoor places we visit cleaner than when we arrived-this helps prevent children getting cut on broken glass too!

we recycle newspapers
We recycle like crazy and even use trash bags from recycled plastic. We also shop at Thrift stores and donate things back that we’ve outgrown.
In our community we have to recycle.
I have a group day care, I have even melted crayons down, put them
with other colors and recycled them.
We recycle paper from local businesses (letterheads) they will not use.

We recycle all paper products, use glass plates instead of paper now. We let our kids sort the recyclables and they help take it to the Recycle Center.
