#GoingGreen – Rockin’ Green (review/giveaway)

When I decided to start cloth diapering Justin I was immediately wondering what detergent was going to work to clean them, I knew it needed to be special and strong to get those stains/smells out. I asked a friend who had cloth diapered her daughter and she pointed me to a website of detergents that are good for cloth diapers. I started checking some of their websites out and when I come across Rockin’ Green I noticed they had a watermelon scent and I was sold!

Rockin’ Green is an award-winning manufacturer of eco-friendly cleaning products designed to make cleaning easier and greener. Most well-known for their clean-rinsing laundry detergent formulated for use on all fabrics and especially useful on cloth diapers, Rockin’ Green produces detergents for hard, soft and normal water conditions (known as Hard, Soft and Classic Rock varieties).

Once I got my Classic Rock in Smashing Watermelon scent I couldn’t wait to open it…then I made everyone else smell it because it smelled so great. Jeff thought I was crazy to be that happy about detergent but I have a slight obsession with watermelon and was excited Justin’s butt would smell like them haha! I was looking forward to doing a load of diapers. I know it don’t have to be used with just cloth diapers, but I didn’t want to use it on our clothes and then not have any when I needed it for diapers. The only problem I have is that it didn’t come with a scoop, I think all detergents should come with a scoop. I just put a plastic spoon in the bag to add the detergent to the wash but I am always questioning if I’m using the right amount. After my first load I was impressed, I couldn’t tell which diapers had been soiled and which were just wet when I put them in. They also didn’t have any odor! They didn’t smell like watermelons like I had hoped, but they didn’t stink like they did going in so I was happy! What’s even better is that when I put a diaper back on Justin once they were dry, he didn’t break out (we’ve been having to wash his clothes in special detergent since he breaks out easy). You can get detergent based on the type of water you have, Soft, Classic (somewhere between soft and hard) or Hard. Something else I didn’t think about until I got it was that my washing machine is HE so I have to have HE detergent and Rockin’ Green is!!!

Rockin’ Green has a variety of other detergents such as Femme Rock (menstrual pad detergent), Dog House Rock (Dog bed and toy detergent), Funk Rock (to get the ammonia smell out) and others!!! I think I need some of the pail freshener (marshmallow scent?) and some of the Melody Odor Neutralizer & Fragrance spray (comes in watermelon too lol)
