Meet Elisabeth From Calleigh’s Clips and Crochet Creations

I started crocheting just for my kids, it turned into others wanting me to make them things so I created Mizz J’s Creative Mayhem. I then got an order for some photo props for a very good friend who is due to have her baby any day now. She had some ideas and posted links to pictures…I was able to find the pattern designer and it was Calleigh’s Clips and Crochet Creations which I happened to already be a fan of on Facebook. I bought 2 patterns specifically for my friend and got to work making them. I first made a lobster critter cape and hat

Then, my favorite, the Forrest Fox Critter Cape…I love that Elisabeth put in the pattern the exact yarn she used. I made a trip to Hobby Lobby to find everything and am super happy with how it turned out. I ended up making a matching fox hat for the soon to be big sister so I emailed her and she happily told me how to make the hat bigger (she only had up to size 3-6months in the pattern)

Both of the critter cape sets worked up VERY fast, working with 2 strands of yarn and a N hook I was done within a few hours and her directions were so easy to follow!

Since I packed up the order yesterday, I was thinking about Elisabeth and emailed her asking her a few questions and if she would mind being featured here….she happily answered the questions so here you go!

Who taught you to crochet?

I learned the basic of crochet from my mother when I was young. I crocheted on and off over the years but after I had my own babies I started to crochet more for them. I continue to learn and develop my skills from many online resources.

What made you want to learn to crochet?

My mom was always crafty and teaching me sewing, knitting , crocheting and more. I guess I just caught on to crocheting the most. I enjoy it so much. I love how simple it is and that you only need your hands, hooks and yarn with millions of possibilities.

What inspires you for your patterns?

I draw inspiration from the world around me. I design mostly photography props for babies so I like to keep my designs simple and sweet, so that a prop doesn’t draw attentions away from the darling model.

What’s your favorite yarn? Hook?

For everyday projects I’m pretty partial to Hobby Lobby’s I love this yarn! So many colors and nice texture that is soft and not rough on my sensitive skin. I’m the odd ball that likes to work it double stranded. I love working with chunky yarns and a big hook. I like projects to work up fast and the bigger hooks helps me not stress my hands from so much crocheting (yes I crochet daily)  J

What is your favorite thing to crochet?

I’m kind of partial to my Newborn cape set designs. I love to see them in action on sweet little babies. I don’t really have a favorite specific item. I just looooove to crochet!

How did you come up with your shop name?

When I first started I was actually just Calleigh’s Clips – I was selling ribbon bows and my Daughter’s name is Calleigh. You may notice I don’t sell many bows now so I tagged on Crochet Creations since that is primarily what I do now and I enjoy it so much!

So far what is your favorite pattern you’ve designed?

I love my mermaid cape sets with the crocodile stitch! They yarn I use for them is self -stripping and it’s always a beautiful surprise. They work up so awesome every time. It was a more difficult pattern from me to write and I was blown away with what I popular design it was and continues to be in the shop.

Little Bio About Yourself:

I’m usually terrible about writing bios so we’ll keep it simple I’ve lived in Oklahoma for most my life I’m a wife, a mother two (3 &4), I have a degree in music (Piano) and I’m obsessed with crocheting and designing pattern.

Thank you Elisabeth for answering my questions! I hope to buy a lot more patterns from you in the near future!
