Goals – Day 1

I started working out today. The community center Jaylin does gymnastics at (and me and the boys do karate) has a full gym as well as a walking/running track around the inside. While Jaylin had her gymnastics class, I bought a membership so I could take advantage of all the equipment and track.

Jaylin’s class is an hour long and I typically just sit in a chair and watch her or play around on my phone. Never anything productive. That stopped today. I spent the first half hour walking the track and I love the way the track goes around the building because I could see in Jaylin’s gymnastics room from 2 sides of the track, I could enjoy watching her still. I even stopped a few times to pay close attention to her and she really enjoyed me being right up on the windows. After walking for the half hour, I got onto one of the stationary bikes, figured out the controls and let it do a quick-start program for me, 30-min. Halfway through I thought I couldn’t finish…I was tired and my one knee was starting to hurt…but I pushed through and got it done…even the 5-min cool down after.

On the stationary bike while watching Jaylin in gymnastics...she's on the balance beam way in the background...she's wearing all navy blue. The bike says 2.81 miles...this is about halfway through...in the end I did 5 miles on the bike :)

Not only did I work out for the hour…I took Jaylin home and rested for about an hour before I headed back out to my karate class. Jeff tried to talk me out of it because my knee was still bothering me but I refused, belt promotion is in 3 weeks and I’m not missing a class now. It’s grabs week so I knew I wouldn’t be putting too much strain on my knee. And yes…I made it through my 45min karate class 🙂 I’m proud of myself.

Day one…of many. I feel good. I feel determined to keep this up.
