1st Birthday Celebration – Dole (review/giveaway)

When you think birthday, you think cake and ice cream right? Junk food, well what about adding some healthy food in there? Fruit? YES! Fruit is sweet, 2 of my kids love it! (Jeffery is a picky eater, I’m still trying to get him to eat more fruit). Dole sent us some Fruit Bowls and I have to say they did not last long in this house!

Jaylin’s favorite was the diced peaches…goodness how that child LOVES peaches! If she could, she would eat peaches for breakfast, lunch and dinner! She’s my weird child, I used to drain the juice off of them (less messy that way since the kids tend to spill them) but she threw a fit when there was no juice to drink afterwards!!!! When the peaches were gone, she had no problem eating the Diced Pears, Mixed Fruit and Tropical Fruit. The Dole Fruit Bowls were actually one of the first solid food Jaxon had to chew up…and he loved it, his favorite was the cherries in the Mixed Fruit bowls. Jeffery used to like Mandarin Oranges, but he suddenly stopped liking them! Oddball ;)

I think my favorite thing about the Dole Fruit Bowls is the convenience of them, just pull one out, peel off the lid and eat! Perfect for after school snack, or a just because snack :)  I put a few in the diaper bag for when we take long trips, we stop at a rest area and give the kids a healthy snack instead of getting something from the vending machine.

Dole Fruit bowls come in packs of 4 and come in 7 different varieties, Diced Apples, Diced Peaches, Mandarin Oranges, Diced Pears, Pineapple Tidbits, Mixed Fruit, Tropical Fruit.

Dole also sent us (well, the kids) 3 Marty Snack packs, which are little zipper pouches that are perfect for Dole’s Fruit Bowls, even has a little key chain hook. Marty is from Madagascar and I LOVE that movie!!!!! He’s the zebra, and Jaylin now calls the pouch her “zeba pocket” It’s also insulated and washable.

The Giveaway: I get to give 3 lucky readers a Marty Snack Pack and a coupon for a pack of Dole Fruit Bowls.

Main Entry: Head over to Dole and then come back and tell me another of their products that you enjoy (or would enjoy)

1st Birthday Celebration – Zutano (review/giveaway)

Cute baby plus cute clothes equals pure adorableness! That is what happens when you put Jaxon in Zutano clothes! Of course you remember him in Zutano Itzy Bitzy line when he was a tiny little thing. He’s just as cute in their clothes now as he was then. You can see him here on the right in his Itzy Bitzy shirt and hat (he looks like a doll baby!)

Now you can see him here on the left just a few months ago in a Zutano shirt and shorts (I know, hard to see it) But here is what the print looks like. I love how all of Zutano’s clothes are bright and colorful! Jaxon likes them because they are soft on his skin and he enjoys looking at the colors too!

The Giveaway: Alex, Kristin and I have been given the opportunity to giveaway 1 $75 Gift Certificate to Zutano’s Itzy Bitzy’s line (size 0-3months, 9-13lbs)
Due to a fire at Zutano’s warehouse and the Summer line damaged by smoke, the GC will not be able to be used until September when the Fall line comes in. I’m sorry for any inconvenience.

1st Birthday Celebration: Hawaiian Tropic Sunscreen (review/giveaway)

With Summer here, sun protection is a major priority in this house. Jaylin and Jaxon are both fair skinned like their Daddy so they all burn very easily. All sunscreens I’ve used in the past smell like coconut, which I can’t stand that smell…drives me up the wall. Luckily the kids sunscreen we’ve had in the past (I can’t remember the name, it was a whole case of travel size given to us) had no smell at all, so I didn’t have to gag every time I picked up one of my kids. The other stuff we use is runny and oily feeling but it does the job…so we continued to use it. But now, thanks to Hawaiian Tropic, our sunscreen smells great and is a creamy lotion instead of runny lotion. Also, it’s not oily feeling.

We were sent a bottle of Hawaiian Tropic Baby Creme Lotion sunscreen and also a tube of Baby Stick Sunscreen. Both have a light tropical scent, which I LOVE…I can still smell a little coconut, but it’s not nearly as bad as other sunscreens and I smell the flowery scent more. Both are water resistant, and formulated with SunSure® Technology which is:

  •  Tested in the natural sunlight!
  •   Less chemical sunscreens
  •   Advanced UVA Protection -Hawaiian Tropic Website
I use the Baby Stick Sunscreen on the kids’ face, just because it’s so much easier than rubbing in the creme lotion since they like to move and I always almost get sunscreen in their eyes…it’s such a fight. With the stick, they don’t mind at all, actually they like to try to do it themselves (with mommy going over it again to make sure they didn’t miss any spots)

The Hawaiian Tropic Baby Creme Lotion is so thick, I made a mistake and put too much on their skin and it took forever to rub it in all over. But, I didn’t have to worry about it running down their arm and dripping and wasting. Tip: Use tiny amounts…you can always add more, but if you put too much….it’s sooooooo hard to get it all used. It says it’s baby creme lotion, but I use it for the entire family including myself.

Both the Baby Creme Lotion and Baby Stick Sunscreen are Pediatrician & Dermatologist tested  which is great!

A 6oz bottle of Hawaiian Tropic Baby Creme Lotion is only $11.29, and I know 6oz don’t sound like a lot, but when you only use a little at a time (a little goes a long way) it will last for awhile! The 0.5oz tube of Hawaiian Tropic Baby Stick Sunscreen is only $5.49 (again, this stuff lasts longer than you think)

**Giveaway has ended…Winner Announced soon**

The Giveaway: One of my lucky readers will win 1 6oz bottle of Hawaiian Tropic Baby Creme Lotion and 1 0.5oz tube of Hawaiian Tropic Baby Stick Sunscreen.

Main Entry: Head over to Hawaiian Tropic and tell me another of their products you have or would like to try. Remember to leave your email address in the comment so I can get in contact with you…no way to contact you means I must choose another winner.

1st Birthday Celebration – Hallmark (review)

As you all know by now, Jaxon’s birthday was this past weekend (there will be pictures of a messy faced 1 year old, I just have to wait on my dad to upload the pictures) What does everyone usually get at least 1 of on their birthday?? A card….and to be honest, most of the time I check to see if there is money, then I toss it. Well, now Hallmark has made a card you won’t want to toss out!

Hallmark has come out with a card that comes to life (webcam required)! I was sent a few of these cards to review, and when I read them and giggled at a few, then looked on the inside corner, it has instructions. Instead of going to the press release that was enclosed with the cards, I wanted to be surprised…as if I had gotten the card alone. So I opened up the website www.hallmark.com/extra and followed the directions, selected the card, downloaded the file, and then when I held up my card to my webcam (I had this little hamster, and inside it says “…loves you you you you.” CUTE!) suddenly a 3D image popped up where my card was on the screen, and a little disco ball and dancing hamster starting singing and dancing! I couldn’t help but laugh! It honestly made my day! My only problem was to see the dancing hamster (and all the cards were the same way I found out) you have to hold the card at an angle, almost flat…but not all the way down and that was a little difficult, because if it went flat, the graphic went away.

A few of the cards were more interactive…this one with the dog, if you rotate the card, it does different skits. One of them has a roller coaster with Hoops and Yoyo and when you hit the space bar, you take a picture of them going through the tunnel.

Seriously, Father’s Day is coming up…and guess who’s Daddy is getting one of these cards!!!! Hallmark has Father’s Day, Graduation (I know you have to know someone graduating!), Humor, Kid’s Collection, Walmart Kids (includes Toy Story and Disney Princesses…Jaylin is going to get one of those for her birthday in September!!), Mother’s Day, and Valentines Day!

Some of the cards have music/voice without the need of a computer…it just adds to the awesomeness of the card! Cards without the sound retail for $2.99 and with sound retail for $5.99. You can find these awesome cards at any Hallmark Gold Crown store and other retailers where Hallmark cards are sold.

1st Birthday Celebration – FlexiBath (review/giveaway)

First birthdays mean first cakes…which equals a big mess right? If your baby is anything like Jaxon, he’s scared of the big tub, and we live in a small place (for now, remember we’re moving!!!) so we just can’t find room for a decent size baby tub for him. So when I heard about FlexiBath I was thrilled!

What’s a FlexiBath? It’s a fold-able tub! Yep, it folds FLAT for easy storage, which I love! I tried to put Jaxon in the big tub before, and he hated it…so I kept using the baby sling which he was quickly getting way too big for. The FlexiBath is just a perfect size for him! I know one question most of you are asking, won’t it leak? Nope, the folding areas of the tub (corners, middle and bottom edge) are made of a soft rubber that is connected to the plastic sides and bottom. The rubber stopper in the bottom is tight too, I have a problem getting it out and back in every time, but that means it’s sealed good. Everything on the FlexiBath is non harmful materials, meaning it’s PVC, phthalates, BPA free!

The FlexiBath isn’t huge, it fits on my counter next to the sink, I use the sprayer to fill it up, and to empty it I slide it over (after I have taken Jaxon out and gotten him dressed) to the sink and drain it. Jaxon likes it because he’s not overwhelmed, I like it because I don’t have to bend down to wash him like I do in the big tub with Jaylin. When I’m done and it’s dry, I fold it up and put it away! No space to take up!

FlexiBaths aren’t bad in price either, $39.99 which is about the same as a infant tub (I think it’s only a little more than I paid for Jaxon’s bath sling!) You will get plenty of use out of it too, not only do I use it for Jaxon, but I also give our puppy a bath in it too (our pug Sweet Pea) don’t worry, I rinse it out well before I put Jaxon back in it! It also comes in some great colors, I got the blue/blue pictured above, but they also have green/green, white/gray, pink/red, red/blue, and white/blue.

**Giveaway Has Ended…Winner Announced**

1st Birthday Celebration – Safety 1st Air Protect Carseat (giveaway)

Kristin, Alex and I’s little ones are turning 1, so it means to get rid of the infant car seat. Of course I have already switched Jaxon to a convertible car seat since he’s a big boy and outgrew the infant one already. So Safety 1st thought it would be great to giveaway a Air Protect car seat to one lucky party goer of the 1st Birthday Celebration.

“ABOUT AIR PROTECT™ TECHNOLOGY

What is Air Protect™ Technology?

Air Protect™ Technology is the most innovative safety feature ever offered in a car seat.  It is a technology that protects our children at their most vulnerable – the head.

How does Air Protect™ work?

Through the precise release of air, Air Protect™ shields children from side impact intrusion and immediately reduces crash forces at the most critical spot: around a child’s head.  Air Protect™ does this by extending ride-down, the amount of time it takes to slow a child’s movement in a crash.”Safety 1st Air Protect’s website

In less than a month, my baby boy will be 1 year old. It’s a big deal! What better way to celebrate it than to show everyone what a big boy he is! Now Jaxon is set to show the world that he’s turning 1, all thanks to My Fast Basket, check him out!

Seriously, isn’t he the most darling little boy turning 1 (I say boy because Brooklin and Ariana are the cutest little girls turning 1 ;) ) You can so tell he’s rotten, just look at that grin! Ok, back to the Look Who’s Turning 1 Boy’s Birthday Gift Basket. Included in the basket is the hat, bib, and shirt (size 12-18months, and as you can see it fits my big boy Jaxon who is 21lbs, it’s actually a tad big) pictured (it’s a plain light blue shirt with the sleeves and collar outlined in the same as the bib, dark blue with polka dots) the basket also includes a CD of children’s stories and songs (Little Boy Blue) and a Boyds plush dog. The Boyds dog is bigger than I expected, check it out sitting with Jaxon here. It’s also very soft! When I first opened the basket, Jaylin took off with the dog!
And, just because he’s rotten and I love pictures of him, here’s another picture with the dog.
Here is a picture from My Fast Basket’s website of everything together (and also the girl’s version)

Of course you can see that the girl’s version has a bunny, and the CD is Little Ms. Muffet.

1st Birthday Celebration – Bake Me a Wish (review/giveaway)

It’s party time! That’s right, in less than a month, Jaxon turns 1! Let’s start this party with cake, because everyone loves cake! I love cake, my kids love cake, and Jeff loves cake, so when Bake Me a Wish wanted to be included in the 1st Birthday Gift Guide I was all for it!

Bake Me a Wish sent me, Kristin and Alex all the Cookies and Cream Cake to review. To my surprise when I got it, it wasn’t a cake…no, it was better. It was pretty much a giant brownie!!!! The Cookies and Cream Cake was yummy, chocolate brownie, OREO® pieces, and my favorite, white chocolate drizzle! Between myself, Jeff and the kids, the cake was gone in about 2 days. Oh, I kind of jumped the gun and went right into the cake itself, nothing about shipping huh? Shipping was awesome, I sent my address on Tuesday and on Wednesday my cake arrived via UPS! Of course I was so excited to eat it, I didn’t take my time to take a nice picture of it This picture I took as soon as I opened it.

Oh, how could I forget the “Happy Birthday” (which could also be numerous other greetings such as “Get Well Soon”, “Thank You”, and others) in the middle. Jeff and I jokingly argued if that was plastic or chocolate…so being the dork I am, I bit it! I was right, it was chocolate. I emailed my contact to let him know I had gotten the cake already, and joked about the chocolate in the middle, he informed me it was imported Belgian chocolate!

Bake Me a Wish also puts in a card to go with the cake, they put “Happy Birthday Jaxon” in the card for, Jaxon’s 1st birthday card was from Bake Me a Wish! The price is a little steep for a cake, $34.99, the cake is about as big around as a Frisbee and about a inch to an inch and a half thick. But I can tell you, it was GOOD! They can also deliver any day you want, you tell them when you want it to arrive! I have to say something else about this cake, and I’m trying to keep from making this a long post, but usually when I put a cake or brownies in the fridge to save for later, the edges get hard and of course I won’t eat that, so I cut that part off and it goes to waste, but the Bake Me a Wish Cookies and Cream Cake never got hard! Not a single crumb of that cake went to waste!

Bake Me a Wish makes all kinds of cakes, carrot cake, chocolate cake, red velvet, and many others. Can be for any occasion, or just because you want one!

**Giveaway Has Ended…Winner Announced**

1st Birthday Celebration

As you know, babies don’t stay babies forever. Jaxon is coming up on his 1year birthday! But, he’s not the only one, you see, while I was pregnant with Jaxon, Kristin (www.ourordinarylife.com) and Alex (www.thejakafiles.com) were also pregnant and we were all due around the same time. Kristin was due first, then Alex was due, then I was due last. But, our babies didn’t want to be born in that order, Jaxon come first at the end of May, then Ariana (Alex’s daughter) come 2nd at the beginning of June and then Brooklin (Kristin’s daughter) made her fashionably late appearance the middle of June (actually, she was born on Jaxon’s original due date)

So, to celebrate these 3 babies’ first birthday, we are putting together a huge 1st Birthday Celebration! The big party start at the end of April with glamorous giveaways, great games and fun fun fun!

Make sure to add Jaxon’s Birthday Banner to your blog for extra entries in all the party giveaways that we will be having! Also add Ariana’s at The JAKA Files and Brooklin’s at Our Ordinary Life for even more entries!
