We are a big tech family. Both Jeff and I have a Blackberry, I have a DS plus we have multiple other things that require batteries or charging. Since we have 2 phones, we have 2 “wall” chargers, we actually keep one of them in the van because we have a adapter that turns any A/C plug into a car charger so that leaves us with 1 charger in the house for our 2 phones lol. Jeff had showed me the PowerMat awhile back and I didn’t think too much of it. Anyways, PowerMat is pretty cool. It’s a wireless charging mat. I was sent a Back Panel for my DS Lite that I just attach to my DS and plug into the charge port and keep it on there all the time, then when I need to charge it, just put it on the PowerMat and it charges, no plugging and unplugging anything, when it’s done, just pick it up and start playing! It’s SIMPLE!!! You can even get receivers for the iPhone, iPod, a lot of models of Blackberry, HTC, Motorola and DS.

Jeff ended up bringing the PowerMat in our room and plugging it in on his side of the bed (he was tired of the charger being on my side, or asking if my phone was on the charger already) plugged his phone into the powercube and laid the powercube on the PowerMat (wow, that’s a lot of “power”s lol)

Holiday Palooza – Fix-It and Forget-It Cookbooks (review/giveaway)

Cooking cooking cooking! Something that goes hand in hand with the holidays. If you are anything like me, you don’t have time to stand over a stove all day to cook dinner for everyone. One thing I got for Christmas a few years ago was a slow cooker/crock pot (whatever you want to call it lol) and I love it! My kids tend to eat different foods if they help cook it. Especially Jeffery who has started being picky about his food, I get him involved and he at least tries it before turning away from it.

Holiday Palooza – Dad Hair (review/giveaway)

My husband is a stubborn thing (and I do mean that in the best possible way lol I do love him ) so when I got the offer to review a book called “Does Your Daughter Have Dad Hair?” I wasn’t sure he was going to take to it. He never did a horrible job doing Jaylin’s hair…but there was always room for improvement.

I showed him the book and he kind of give me a look like “You expect me to read that?” So I put it on the arm of the couch, next to his computer desk…right where he would see it all the time. I wasn’t sure if he would ever pick it up and read it, but I had hoped. Then one day we were out in a store when I had to take Jeffery to the bathroom and left Jeff with Jaylin and Jaxon…I come back and as we were walking, I realized Jaylin’s hair was different. Jeff had done her hair in one of the book’s examples, the “Princess Loopy-loop”

Note: This is not from the book...I searched for a image to show what a "Princess Loopy-loop" is.

For this review, I thought I would do something slightly different. I wrote down some questions and had Jeff answer them, since the book was for him, I wanted to make sure his input was included.

What were your thoughts on the book before reading it?

“Didn’t want to read it because I didn’t want a woman telling me how to do my daughter’s hair.”

After?

“After reading the author was a guy, I read through it. The book had more of a ‘been there, done that’ feel to it. Which made it more comfortable as a guy reading through a book on how to do hair then having someone say ‘Don’t do this, don’t do that’ “

Any tips for dads that aren’t in this book?

“The book covers everything for me. I can’t think of any tips that isn’t already in the book”

What’s the best tip you walked away from having read “Dad Hair”?

“Keep her distracted helps A LOT”

Since reading the book, I’ve noticed Jeff has been messing with Jaylin’s hair more…he tries different things more often and is better at getting her to sit still and let him brush her hair. No more “dad hair” in this house other than the book!

Holiday Palooza – Tukaiz (review/giveaway)

Finding unique gifts for some people can be pretty hard sometimes. I like to try to get my dad at least 1 thing he doesn’t expect, something he’s never seen or heard of before. That’s when I was asked to review a calendar from Tukaiz.

At first I didn’t see the big deal…it’s a calendar. Then I found out that it’s all personalized, not just a name typed on there…but the picture itself has the name worked into it! You get to choose 1 of 10 different sets of images to be personalized. I picked the Smile Set 1 because they seemed to be the one my dad would enjoy the most. Of course, I give it to him early because I really wanted his input for this review…and well…I really couldn’t wait to see his reaction. Of course, my dad being goofy…he flipped through it and cracked jokes, the first one I clearly remember was January, it’s a car windshield covered in snow with his name “drawn in the snow” and he said “That’s not my car!” When he got to February, he said “I thought you said it was personalized…my birthday isn’t marked! And I never owned a car in these states!” He’s such a goof! He had us cracking up!

The quality is nice too, it’s thick paper, double sided printed and it’s spiral bound so it won’t fall apart!

Holiday Palooza – Road Rage Jewelry (review/giveaway)

I’m not one to wear jewelry very often, heck, I don’t even wear my wedding ring. But I found something that is pretty cute, and I may wear it more often than I do my other jewelry since it will go with any outfit, even jeans and a t-shirt. It’s a Road Rage Jewelry necklace.

I got it intending for it to be for Jaylin. I even let her pick out the street signs that would go on the necklace. Once I got it, I realized it’s a bit big for her…so I’ll wear it and when she’s old enough, she can wear it! When I got the package, the 4 pieces were in 2 boxes, the necklace in one and the 3 charms in the other. My necklace has the street sign “OCEAN DRIVE” with 3 charms under it, a stop light, bicycle and “DEAD END”. They come with a pliable metal ring to hook them on the street sign any way you want. You can even connect them to each other to hang down further…the possibilities are endless.

You can always add more later too. There are holes on each side of the charms so you can just keep it going and going and going. There are 4 series to choose from. Street, which is the street signs themselves. Busted, which are newer type phrases such as “g2g”, “LOL”, and “Omg!” just to name a few. Hazard, includes construction signs and warning signs such as “One Way”, “Fresh Oil” and “Yield”. Then lastly but not least there is Pay It Forward which is military type things such as bombs and a soldier silhouette, a “Baghdad 89 km” street sign necklace and a “Drive Safely In Memory of” charm.
