One of the things I have a hard time buying is stocking stuffers. Scunci is something that is common in this house, between me always pulling my hair up in a ponytail and then Jaylin’s crazy hair that is usually in some sort of “up-do” whether it be pigtails, pony tail or something else pretty…Scunci seems to be the hair bands that we buy that work the best for us and not hurt her poor little head when I take the bands out. Scunci sent me 2 of their products, one being the Upzing which is a neat little clip that is pretty yet functional to hold your hair up. Check out the video:

Scunci also sent me some of their new no slip grip hair ties and they are my NEW FAVORITE!!! I used one and it kept my hair up ALL DAY, even after falling asleep with it in…I was so friggin’ impressed! I even use them on Jaylin now so her hair will stay up all day. Jeff says he don’t like them because they are round and they tend to slide down to his wrist instead of staying on his hand before he puts it in her hair…but I’m fine with that…just a little further to reach to get it and on my wrist is where I usually keep hair bands before putting them in mine or Jaylin’s hair. I do sometimes have a hard time getting them out…they stay TOO WELL sometimes and Jaylin whimpers a little that it hurts, but only for a second until I take a loop off to loosen it before pulling straight out.

Holiday Palooza – Paper Couture (review/giveaway)

I started wrapping gifts yesterday. Finally! It was funny, because I couldn’t find my tags at first and I was in a rush to get some done before the big kids got home from school, so I used a permanent marker and decided to use initials…then I realized I can’t just use first initials…I had to use first and middle…that’s what I get for naming all my kids with a “J” so they were labeled with “JA” Jeffery, “JG” Jaylin and “JT” Jaxon. Then, as I went to grab more boxes off the shelf, thinking they were toys to be wrapped, I come across my Paper Couture box! MY TAGS! My NEW tags!

I was getting tired of the usual “To/From” tags that you just peel and stick onto the packages, so when I opened Paper Couture I was pleasantly surprised to see tags with holes in them and ribbon! Only a few of the 50 tags had a “To/From” on them which was a nice change. Most had cute little sayings like “Ho Ho Ho, With Love, Santa” or “You have been a good girl {or boy}” So I used a marker and wrote their names on the back, tied a ribbon on and taped them to the packages…SO CUTE! The only problem I had was the ribbon, I would have preferred more of Christmas colors, but they are pink, blue and a light green…which didn’t match the tags or my wrapping paper very well. It’s no lie, I’m a big girl. I have a hard time finding clothes that I like, that fit me nice. I only shop at one store, and they are kinda pricey but it’s what’s comfortable for me. I can now add somewhere else to shop to my list, Fashion to Figure.

I was sent a Button Shoulder Dolman Sweater and I got it as we were getting ready to go somewhere, so I ran inside with the box, opened it…then changed shirts and ran back out the door! I was immediately comfortable and felt good wearing something that wasn’t just a t-shirt. I tend to not dress up much, most of my wardrobe is jeans, sweats and t-shirts. What I love about the shirt is that it goes with jeans, and it can also go with a nice pair of slacks and look dressy. I don’t like to wear long sleeves, they bug me…I dunno why but they do, but this shirt goes down to my elbow and I like it (since that’s where I tend to roll up my few long sleeve shirts lol) I was so comfortable in it, I wore it on the hike to the falls the other month, you can see it in this picture of me and Jaxon.

Holiday Palooza – Powermat (review/giveaway)

We are a big tech family. Both Jeff and I have a Blackberry, I have a DS plus we have multiple other things that require batteries or charging. Since we have 2 phones, we have 2 “wall” chargers, we actually keep one of them in the van because we have a adapter that turns any A/C plug into a car charger so that leaves us with 1 charger in the house for our 2 phones lol. Jeff had showed me the PowerMat awhile back and I didn’t think too much of it. Lo and behold, here come an offer to review it, I didn’t remember Jeff had mentioned it until I pulled it out of the box and said “I got this because I think you will like it.” and he said “Yea, I showed you that online awhile back”

Anyways, PowerMat is pretty cool. It’s a wireless charging mat. I was sent a Back Panel for my DS Lite that I just attach to my DS and plug into the charge port and keep it on there all the time, then when I need to charge it, just put it on the PowerMat and it charges, no plugging and unplugging anything, when it’s done, just pick it up and start playing! It’s SIMPLE!!! You can even get receivers for the iPhone, iPod, a lot of models of Blackberry, HTC, Motorola and DS.

Holiday Palooza – Maclaren Volo (review)

As I’ve said before, I’m a stroller junkie! A few months ago we ended up going down to 1 vehicle and I keep a stroller in there, so one day Jeff had the van at work and I needed the stroller…I ended up having to carry Jaxon down to Jeffery’s bus stop and hold him the entire time, the boy isn’t light! So when Maclaren contacted me for a review of their Volo stroller I immediately knew I had to say yes!

Volo is a basic umbrella stroller. It’s light, easy to fold and is easily portable. The box it come in, made it seem like it was going to be bigger than it really was, but once I got it out, put the few things together I needed to it folded so small I knew it was what we needed. The day after I got it, our van battery was dead! So I already had the stroller open and ready to go in our living room (my other one in the van happen to be under stuff and I was in a rush, plus I wanted to use the new one )so I put Jaxon in it and out the door we went. We live on a dirt road so this was a major test of how well it could perform on rocky terrain…it went along just as if I was going through the grass,didn’t drag the wheels in the rocks or anything!

Volo’s colors are different than any other strollers I’ve seen. Ours is pea green/black stripe and white on a black frame, most strollers are all one color, but Maclaren is different, they also have scarlet and white, black and white on a black frame, charcoal and white on a silver frame.

One thing I noticed about the Volo that I haven’t seen with other strollers, is this one come with a rain cover, most companies that offer those make you buy them separate. Although, I don’t know when I’ll need a rain cover, because I ain’t going out for a walk in the rain lol. Funny story about the rain cover, Jaylin was home the day I was putting it together and she wanted to sit in the stroller (it can hold up to 55lbs) and I wanted to see how to put the rain cover on, she wanted it on over her…and loved it! She sat in there and played for the longest time, it kept her quiet while I cleaned up the box and stuff.

Volo also has a 5 point harness, something Jaxon needs because he tries to escape everything! The problem I have with it, it’s hard to unlatch, takes me a couple minutes to get Jaxon out of it because the button is weird. I don’t know how to explain it. It also only has 1 seat position, so if Jaxon gets tired I can’t lean the seat back for him to sleep comfortably. It has a basket underneath (I still need to put that on) Something that I liked that I haven’t seen before is the brake, it’s in the middle between the rear wheels, so you don’t have to push both wheel locks, just the one lever in the middle!

I have to tell you, we put this thing through a major test by accident. I had asked Jeff to bring the stroller in one evening and I went on about taking care of the kids, I never thought to ask him if he had actually done it. That night we got a frost and when I went out to take the kids to school, there the stroller was still sitting beside the porch. I decided to let it sit there so the sun could melt the frost and we’d see how water resistant it really was. The next day, it still looked brand new! Even now, a few weeks later, it still looks new (and we’ve had a few times it’s been left out) So I think it’s durable!

I think the only time I’m really into candles and scented stuff for the house is the holiday season, it just gets me in the spirit. Jeff can’t stand it that every time I go to the store, I come home with a different candle, or holiday candle holder. Holiday Palooza – Carolina Pad (review/giveaway)

Some people are harder to buy for than others. In my family, just about everyone loves taking pictures (including me…duh lol), so I was happy when Carolina Pad sent me the Hot Chocolate Album Gift Set from their online store.

Our all-time favorite collection, Hot Chocolate designed by JACK!E, on three different albums for holiday giving.

*One-Up Album – holds 100 4 x 6 photos

*Two-Up album – holds 224 4 x 6 photos (two per page)

*Mini-Album – holds 14 photos; expandable and easy to hang on the wall – Carolina Pad’s Online Store

I think the Mini-Album is my favorite, I’ve never seen anything like it. You can keep it folded up, or you can unfold it and hang it up somewhere!
